Microbial Physiology and Fermentation Technology
Sublime advanced course on Microbial Physiology and Fermentation Technology

From 13 – 24 January, the Advanced Course on Microbial Physiology and Fermentation Technology was organized by BioTech Delft (Yvonne van Gameren, Jenifer Baptiste).
Microbial physiologists, metabolic engineers and (bio)process engineers from the faculty staff, together with invited international experts from other universities and industry, will offer a combination of lectures.
The course aims to familiarize participants with the integrated, interdisciplinary approach required in modern biotechnology.
The program during this week is supported by a course board, Pascale Daran-Lapujade (TU Delft), Henk Noorman (dsm-firmenich). For a better understanding of the lectures and to stimulate active participation by those attending, this intensive two-week course combined lectures with group exercises and case stuydies organized by Prof.Em. Sef Heijnen, Henk Noorman and Robbert Kleerebezem. Fed batch tasks organized by Wouter van Winden (dsm-firmenich) and Djordje Bajic.
A fieldtrip to the site of dsm-firmenich in Delft was also included in the program, at the site Cindy Gerhard (planetb.io) and Marcel Wubbolts (vivici) gave interesting lectures. Followed by a tour in the Food Innovation Center organized by Elaheh Jamalzadeh and Joris Kloek , and a tour in the Rosalind Franklin Biotechnology Center lead by Henk Noorman and Cees Sagt.
The 25 participants in the course are from all over the world and work in the industry or at an university.
